SHARPEST BLADE . AWARD CEREMONY OF THE CITY OF SOLINGEN
Since 1978, the city of Solingen has been awarding the "Sharpest Blade" prize to personalities who have made a special contribution to the public interest. B.EFFECTIVE was able to interpret this traditional event in a new way and stage it for Cem Özdemir, Joachim Gauck and more than 1,000 invited guests.
In addition to the content design and production management, B.EFFECTIVE was also responsible for the implementation of the participant management, the increased security precautions in accordance with the protocols of the guests of honor as well as event equipment and catering.
"Our aim for the event was to pick up on old values, bring them to life in a new way and create a personal connection with the award winner," says B.EFFECTIVE Managing Director, Nadja Alhaus.
For the "Anatolian Swabian", as Cem Özdemir describes himself, it is a matter close to his heart to emphasize the basic values of liberal democracy without exclusion and racism. His polished choice of words for an open society is impressive and passionate.
It was precisely these thoughts and emotions that set the tone for the entire event. First, B.EFFECTIVE developed a musical guideline that linked the various program points together. These included the laudatory speech by Joachim Gauck (former German President), the presentation of the award by Solingen's Lord Mayor Tim Kurzbach and the acceptance speech by Cem Özdemir.
After an instrumental opening with the Andreas Schleicher Orchestra, oriental influences were combined with a current catchy tune in an interpretation of the song "ID" by Michael Patrick Kelly. The German-Turkish pop musician, Shanai Philippen, added a Turkish rap to the song, creating a special connection to the award winner.
Fatih Cevikkollu moved the guests to think and laugh and, as a German-Turkish cabaret artist, set humorous accents with character and conciseness.
Each contribution illuminated the topic of integration in a new way. As a highlight, B.EFFECTIVE complemented the orchestra and live singers at the end of the event with a local choir that was created especially for the event. Around 70 people took to the stage for the finale and, with the song "Eine Sprache" by the group "Parallel", not only expressed the award winner's concern, but also showed a uniform diversity across all age structures and nationalities that touched every guest.
